Achievements

Since 2019, percentage of passing is 98% for the pass-out batches of the department. For 3 years an average of 87% students passed in First Class. Out of them 38% of students are in First Class with Distinction.
Students are placed in Reputed Companies like TATA Motors, VolksWagen, Mahindra and Mahindra Farm Equipement Division, Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant, Capgemini, Infosys, Rudder Analytics Private Limited etc. The average CTC is 3 LPA. Max CTC is 5LPA.
Since 2015 to 2019, fourteen students from the department have qualified GATE and got admissions in IITs and NITS for higher studies. Students have also progressed for International Post Graduation programs in different countries like USA, Canada, and Germany etc.
Students are encouraged to work on the topics related to an industrial problem and community assistance. Many of the final year students have completed innovative projects as per the University Curriculum. Nearly, 50 % of projects are sponsored by industries. Department organizes many industrial visits to reputed industries which help students for enhancing their practical knowledge. Industrial exposure motivated the students to choose mini-projects, seminars and project topics relevant to the industry.
100% students are encouraged to take up in-plant training during their semester break/ winter-summer vacations. The objective of the training is to acquaint students with the industrial culture and hands-on experience. Students prepare report at the end of training, get endorsed by a mentor from the industry and submit in the department. Also, student’s performance is evaluated at the end of semester by mentor along with Academic/Industry experts. Training programs/ internships/ in-plant training helps to improve employability of the students.
Department takes ownership of five different Motor Sports Clubs such as GO KART, BAJA, SUPRA, E-Vehicle and Tractor Design. Under these clubs, students design, develop, manufacture and test various vehicles such as Racing Car, E-Vehicle, All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Tractor Design. Students of this department have actively participated in National Level Technical Events like BAJA, GO KART (Auto India Racing Championship-AIRC, Indian Karting Championship-IKC, Bharat Formula Karting Championship -BFKC etc.), Tractor Design, ROBOCON and Electric Two Wheeler Design Competition. They performed well at State and National Level and got prizes in various events.
For A.Y 2018-19, under GO KART Event(Racing Car Event), the Team “ Phalanx’ has got overall 3rd raking among 42 participant teams organized by Zeal Institute of Technology, Pune. Team also won 3rd prize in autocross event in AIRC- 2019 competition. In A.Y 2019-20, ‘Team Phalanx’ has secured All India Rank (AIR) 23, AIR 16 and AIR 6 for events organized by AIRC-4, IKC and BFKCT -2019. For the A.Y. 2021-22, ‘Team Phalanx’ has got AIR 4 for event Edgeline Racing Championship.
For A.Y. 2017-18, ‘Team Radiance Racing’of BAJA (ATV Vehicle) has secured rank 7th in virtual round and obtained sponsorship of Rs. 5 Lakhs from Bharat Forge Pune. For A.Y. 2019-20, ‘Team Radiance Racing’ participated in Virtual BAJA SAE INDIA and secured AIR 126. ‘Team Karshan’ of Tractor Design competition, obtained sponsorship of Rs. 50,000/- from Bhima Shankar Sahkari Sakhar Karkhana Ambegoan, Pune for event organized by SAEINDIA Southern section and secured AIR 3.
Team of Electric Two Wheeler Design Competition has got 3rd prize in best maneuverability for A.Y. 2019 i.e. on road vehicle performance with AIR 13 among 89 teams from all over India for Electric Two Wheeler Design Competition-2019, organized by SAE India Southern Section.
Some Students of this department are actively participating and contributing with their efforts in college Robocon Team. Robocon Team has secured the AIR 2 in the League matches for ROBOCON- 2018 and also bagged the ROBU award for “Smart and Simple Robot” which consists of prize money worth Rs.50, 000/-. The Team also got AIR-4 and Jury Choice Award, 1 st from Maharashtra under ‘DD Robocon – 2019’ event organized by ABU ROBOT contested at IIT Delhi.
Some Students of this department are consistently and actively participating in various sports and cultural activities. Many of them were in lead role and grabbed various prizes at college and university level. Major worth noting achievements of the department students are (i) For Academic Year 2018-19, Mr. Sachin Rathod has participated in International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament (Category C), Delhi and got Rank 39 with prize money Rs. 20,000, (ii) Miss. Pranali Wagh (Kho-Kho State Level Player), (iii) Prathmesh Khisti (Cultural Secretary), (iv) Sanket Gaikawad (Decoration and Management Head), (v) Vishal Gadekar ( Drama Runner Up), (vi) Mukul Kedar ( Dance Runner Up), (vii) PoojaGaikawad ( Poetry Runner Up).
Teaching and Suporting-Staffs of this department are well qualified, young and dynamic. Out of 10 teaching faculties, 2 are PhD holder and 3 are pursuing their PhD. Faculties are invited by other institutes to deliver expert talks on various subjects. They are also invited as session chairman, judge in various conferences and competitions. Some are reviewer of renowned journals. The faculties contributed to the development of curriculum, paper setting, development of question banks, external examiners, and chairman for oral examinations for SPP University Pune and other universities.
Department has 11 laboratories admeasuring 1834 sq. m. area with equipment worth Rs. 78,51,433/- ( Rs. Seventy Eight Lakh Fifty One Thousand Four Hundred and Thirty Three ). Major laboratories in the department are I.C. Engine, Automotive Systems and Testing, Vechicle Maintenance and Garage Practice, Automotive Transmission, Automotive Electrical and Electronics, Vehicle Dynamics, TOM, MQC, CAD/CAM, Project and Motor Sports Lab.
